Civilization 5 Runtime Error

I recently re-installed Civ5 after a reformat, and played for a couple hours this morning. This afternoon, I tried to open my saved game (229 turns) and it crashes every single time. It gives me a VC++ Runtime error related to DirectX. Apparently this has been a huge issue with this game, though I have not seen any actual fixes for it yet.

System specs:

MSI P67-G43 board
Intel i5 2500k @ stock speeds and volts
HIS HD4870 @ stock speeds and volts
12GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM

Can anyone shed light on this? The game worked like a charm on my old machine.

Same happened to me, 437 turns in right as things started to get dicey. No fixes yet, essentially your game is knackered for now.

I installed the game on my new hard drive Friday (8/12), then started a game this morning (8/14) and saved itafter 2-3 hours of play and exited. This afternoon, I restarted and attempted to load this morning's save, and I received the crash.

I have tried Re-installing directX and the latest C++. Windows 7x64 is up-to-date.

Ah gotcha. Sorry I don't know of a fix for that and I assume you checked out the tech support part of the civfanatics.com forums?
