I'm running Civilization 3 Complete on an Athlon Tbird 800 with 256 megs of RAM in XP. I don't want to build a new rig so what's a quick and dirty upgrade i can do? The wait time is getting ridiculous as each year progresses. Would more RAM do the trick?

play civilization II instead, it is a better game :)

hmm people keep touting civ 2 > civ 3. why's that?
I prefer 3. It's because 3 doesn't do much beyond 2, mainly the culture thing.

Oh and another 512 of ram will do the trick

More RAM should do the trick. XP is probably using about half of your 256 for itself.

There is a map / mod at civfanatics.com that will greatly increase game speed. Dig around on that site.

People tout Civ2 over Civ3 likely because they can win at Civ2 with minimal effort. The diplomacy alone in Civ3 is enough to play it over Civ2. :p

Sorta true. I found that with Civ 2 the various difficulty levels worked, but with Civ 3 they didn't seem to mean anything at all.
