My parents will be getting me a used car soon nd wanted your opinion on which would be better for me.

Right now i usually drive my dad's acura 1997 2.5 TL. it has pretty decent acceleration(redlining it is fun) and a nice smooth ride.

The contenders will probably be a 1998 or 99' accord or a 2001 civic(i like the no bump in rear) Both would be the EX model. i'm trying to find an 98' ex v6 but they are hard to find in my area with a reasonable amount of mileage plus i am guessing insurance will be a lot more for the v6.

if you compared a 98 accord ex to a 98 civic ex which one would accelerate faster, have a smoother ride, be more fun, etc. also, it has to be auto since my mom will be using it too. btw, i am 18

Um,if you can afford an accord v6, go for it. Nice car, nothing to complain about. Between 4cyl Accord and Civic.... tough choice, guess it depends on multiple factors.

What's your desire, performance, fuel economy, lowest cost, space, ride, comfort? They are different class cars and comparing them isn't that simple.

Drive a few of each and make your own decision. Call your insurance company and get prices before choosing so that's not a surprise.

id go for the accord, bigger, more comfy and should be a tad faster, but neither of them are gonna be 'fassst', the v6 accord would be the nicest of the choices :)

auto? that stinks, manual's are where the fun is!!1

if you can get V6 Accord I suggest that my mom has a 2K2 Accord EX V6 and it has plenty of kick for an automatic sedan

edit: have never driven a civic though

civic si is out of the question for sure. umm, not worrying about fuel economy since they both are pretty decent. would like a car that has good stock performance since i don't plan on souping up the accord or civic. good acceleration is always fun. is the civic or accord better at accelerating? for space, i'm guessing both have enough room to put 2 12's in the trunk. i've been in a civic and accord and space was adequete(i'm 5' 7")

for the ride and comfort....is one a lot smoother and more comfy than the other?

Normally I'd say Accord but damn, I just made the jump from a 4 banger to a V6 and the fuel economy seems very noticeable...

Why are you going for speed if you are going to put a heavy system in there?

Just get what fits your needs. Personally I HATE the people that drive around in their stock Hondas revving the engines and peeling out at every stopsign/light. Please don't be one of those.

Get a 2000 Jetta 1.8T, quick car, GREAT mileage, under 15k if you get a decent deal.

I'm thinking you need the Fiero I'm sellin... ;) Talk about accelleration! LoL

Seriously, the cars you're considering are kinda cookie-cutter cars. how bout an old Lincoln? Suicide doors! Ok, the mileage sux, but WHAT A CAR! ;)

If I didn't have a family, I'd be trying to get a Z like I used to have... I love 2 seaters.

Any of these would be a very nice first car. Personally I would prefer a Civic to an Accord at your age. I used to drive a '98 Accord EX V-6 and didn't really like it - it felt bulky and rather ponderous, and suffered from severe body roll and nose dive on braking. IMO the Civic is a little more fun to drive, though neither is anything too wild. Too bad you can't get a stick - a Civic with a stick can be quite an entertaining little car.

98 Honda Accord - My parents car, automatic. 4 cylinder w/plenty of power. Much larger car and has a tad bit better of a ride.

96 Honda Civic - My car, stick. Tons of fun to drive but it doesn't have as much power as the accord. Smaller and the stick just makes it a blast.

once you throw 2 12's in a box into the trunk of a civic, it will be slowwww, believe me, i just put one 15" in my 96 corolla, def. slower ;), but it quads.
