:Q:disgust::|

New TV spot shows a plain-jane Civic driving through the city. At each intersection riced-out Civics begin tagging along. More and more Civics roll in, with bling-bling rims, neon underglows, and, of course, big friggin' wings. First it was the 'Type R' stickers and emblem kits being sold at dealerships. Now this. Looks like Honda wants to own the ricer image. Great. Thanks a lot Honda.

Oh, the tag line at the end of the ad? "Represent". Sheesh.

kinda like the cold cathode/leds lighting up comp cases everywhere now eh? :) and the windows on every other case that don't shield the comp from noise or anything else really.

Dude, I liked 'Fast and the Furious' as much as the next guy (bought the DVD and all) but you need to see this ad to understand my gripes. Its like Honda is attempting to "own" the whole image...and they're doing it with a car like the Civic. I forgot to mention the one Civic with the 'VTEC' up on his windshield. This also plays to the stereotype that ricers travel in packs. I dunno, its just tasteless if you ask me. I always think of Honda as a car company with class and an eco-conscience (I drive an Accord.) This ad doesn't improve that image.

I know, I just wanted to use that line. I hate ricers just as much as the next guy. :p

I think of them as a company with a desire to make money.

?

All I'm saying is that Honda doesn't really care about their image, except in terms of making money. If appealing to the young teenager generation can consistiently bring in more money than appealing to the tree hugging alternative energy crowd, then Honda will go with the teenager focus. To you, the commercial may seem tasteless, but to the large target audience, it may seem cool.

Haven't seen the commercial though, I'll post my thoughts if I do.
