There's just something cool about seeing a Civic burning it's rear wheels.

Bet this was a stupidly expensive project, though.

Insane; crazy; audacious; hazardous; call it whatever you want but we?re totally sucked into this conversion that concerns squeezing a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette drivetrain into a? 1996 Honda Civic hatchback! To make a long story short, in order to get his mind off his divorce, this guy decided to spend some time on two written off vehicles that were laying around his garage. Like a modern King Solomon, he decided to cut his babies into two and make something never before seen: a rear-wheel drive Honda Civette V8 LS1. Even though the task seems impossible, he?s determined to complete it without spending a buck.

Undeniably, the most intriguing part of the conversion is the engine that has to be fitted far back. The controversial owner says he used the entire Corvette drivetrain -front suspension, steering, rear suspension minus the subframe. What tops it all is the fact that he?s trying to fit several elements from the Vette?s interior into the Civic?s cabin! Utterly crazy and we love it. We?ll return on this unique project as soon as its finished.

I think if I saw that at a stop light I would die from giddiness.

it's unique and cool that he did it

but not very realistic as you can see he can't even control it

I want an LS1 :(

You would die of giddiness from seeing a civic spin its rear tires?

I remember this was first posted, he was still in his build stages.

EDIT:

wow..about a month ago, i couldn't for the life of me, find that damn forum+thread. After a furry of ultimate determined google searches, i found the thread that this reposted thread linked to!

Pretty damn hilarious either way.

I often ponder the "W T F" look on peoples faces if I were to drop a tuned 400+ HP 3SGTE into my '95 Camry (same block casting as the 5SFE so its mechanically a simple swap, but needs a custom harness and custom upper mount bracket since the true dual sprocket DOHC head is wider).

Just haven't done it yet because it would be a waste of money when I have a car that will always be faster $ per $. I had considered taking that route seriously before I got a Cobra and even spec'ed up a GT35R 3SGTE build, but after finding out someone already did a a 500 HP turbo built V6 and still only ran 12s and 13s, I decided it wasn't a good idea... FWD ftl and there are no after market performance suspension parts for a car like a Camry to fix it.

One day I will smoke the front tires of a bare bone stock looking turbo Camry...

A fella here in NW Indiana did something similar back in the late 70's. He dropped a 427 big block Chevy and Muncie 4 speed into a early 70's Honda 600 (Ugly 2 seater): Similar to this. He had to sit in the rear and still had the steering column go down between his knees. It was crazy fast, but a real handful to drive.....

Anyone from the Chicagoland area remember the 1960 Vespa with the GM big block in it back in the late 60's - early 70's that drag raced at US 30 dragstrip? (It was called "No Big Thing": Wheelstands in every gear. Another.... The car had a huge following around here....

Lots of weird stuff was done with small cars 30 or so years ago. This isn't something new.
