This game rocks - pure and simple. It really brings back the 'magic' from the first and seconds versions... Multiplayer is, for the most part, really solid - but for the life of me and my friends, we cannot get the in-game VOIP to work. Has anybody else gotten it to work?

We've tested our microphones in XP to verify they work - check.
We've clicked "Enable in game voice chat" - check.
We know you have to use the scroll-lock key to activate it - check.

We know that we could use a third-party VOIP system, but would like to get the built-in functionality working.

What are we missing?

Thanks in advance for any info...

Yeah, I'll be posting on the CivFanatics forums soon abou this - -

Multiplayer is a ton of fun - with simultaneous turns and the ability to save and continue later it makes it actually workable for games like Civ that can take 10+ hours to finish... The option also exists to allow the AI to take over for players who drop out, which is really helpful when playing with people you don't know.

Yea in Civ4 you can have simultaneous turns, or you can set timers for the turns so that you don't have to sit there waiting for somebody that went to get a drink and ended up falling asleep or something.. haha :)

I haven't tried multiplayer yet because frankly i'm not that good at the game and I'd rather get owned by the AI where nobody else can see than get owned by other people <grins> Once I get a bit better with the strats I think Multiplayer would be pretty fun. I also think it would be fun to go on with some friends and make permanant alliances and play as a team against the AI players set to the highest difficulty...

Its a turned base game...
In Heroes of might and magic it's the fastest move that takes place first.

That's how I am. At Noble level I keep losing to the AI with the stupid space race.

A turn starts, everyone makes their moves at the same time. To move on to the next turn all players must end their turn. There is an option to put a time limit on turn length. Any other questions, just ask.
