What's the best Civ IV resource for a total newb like myself? I've never played any of the Civ games but decided to see what it was all about. Tried playing for about an hour and a half last night and was just LOST. I'll eventually read the 208 page manual (not complaining... it's nice to see a dev finally offer a manual done right), but I need a crash course.

Having played Civ 1 and 2 a lot, playing a bit of 3 and a bit of 4... personally I found the best tactic is to run through the game a couple of times at a lowish difficulty.

This way, you'll pick up whats useful and learn how the game works.

Once you nail down the basics, look at the resources. You will be able to pick up pieces of information due to the fact you know these basics and things will click better.

Did you do the tutorial? That pretty much teases you how to play. Then when you play, play on the easiest level. After a single full game, i think you'll understand the game pretty well. After a few games, and you'll be pretty decent.
