I recently got back in to Civ 4 and have the original and both expansions (Civ 4 Gold + BTS) installed with all of the patches.
Twice now I have gotten the BSOD upon exiting the game, which was functioning without any noticeable issue, to desktop. The first time was after 3-4hr online and the second time was a 3-4hr offline. Here are the Event Viewer messages I found:
======
ERROR 4609 (error message)
The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 8007043c from line 45 of d:\vistasp1_gdr\com\complus\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.
ERROR 5032 (audit failure message)
Windows Firewall was unable to notify the user that it blocked an application from accepting incoming connections on the network.
Error Code: 2
ERROR 5038 (audit failure message)
Code integrity determined that the image hash of a file is not valid. The file could be corrupt due to unauthorized modification or the invalid hash could indicate a potential disk device error.
File Name: \Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\drivers\tcpip.sys
======
Both times I got the BSOD I was not able to read the screen as I am not too familiar with its layout. I did notice that my memory had been dumped prior to it rebooting my computer. Where are the BSOD error logs located? Has anyone else had these issues while running Civ 4?
I have had Company of Heroes and Firefox crash once each in the past 3 months or so. Also, in the past 5 months, I have had 5 "explorer.exe" failures. None of these generated the dreaded BSOD. Could this be an indication of an underlying problem with the stability of my computer?
My specs are:
E8400 w/ GA-P35-DS3L rev.2
G.Skill DDR1000 4GB
EVGA 8800GTS w/ 169.25 drivers
2 500GB Seagate 7200.11 (no raid)
Enermax Liberty 500W
Thanks!
