Civ 3 without the CD?

OK, how do I play Civ 3 without the CD in my CD-ROM drive? I have a laptop and I'd rather not have to put the CD in to play.

I am disappointed that Civ 3 makes you put in the CD to play. Civ 2 and SMAC didn't require it.

The latest patch for Civ III this not work anymore. I'm back to having to put my CD in.
