city builder games?

and i just got a new video card. i still play pharaoh to this day, along with tropico.

I saw caeser 4 but the reviews turned me off...i'm not interested in playing a game that has massive slowdown even if you turn down the settings.

i'm not necessarily interested in "graphic intensive game"...even pretty 2d is nice, and actually i prefer pretty 2d because i can play the game in a window without problems at all....but i just don't know what came out after pharaoh~ Is there maybe a chinese or middle eastern [well i guess that is pharaoh 😉] city builder? Those are fun for sure 🙂

I would have jumped on AOE3, but for some reason ensemble lost my heart after AOE2 and AOE2X (quite possibly the best expansion pack ever)...AOM was okay but never tickled my fancy and I felt they were trying to be more like warcraft 3 more than anything else. I love the massive battles and the beautiful 2d...so i'm staying away from AOE3 for now

So what are a few that were released recently? Perhaps a "pharaoh" where i can actually define the paths of the bloody units (i hated sticking 5 market sellers in an area, and block of all these roads and they would never manage to get a few houses...instead of giving me a "block" it would have been much better to simply pre plan the path...)

bump for now.

i think i'm going to check out Sierra's Emporer...but it looks more war time focused >,< I prefer something that lets me focus more on an economy.
In other news I loaded up tropico once more and my my my it is much faster than back in the day when I played it on a 500mhz K6-2 😉

If you want to try something older, the Patrician series focuses on European sea trading during the 14th-16th century. You build up some bank, build trading houses, banks, warehouses, worker housing, all the while juggling budgets & trade routes.
