Thats one of the more idiotic programs I've seen lately. How about just leave the note AND the valuables?

I don't see how opening unlocked car doors is constitutional, even if they don't take anything.

so what would have happened if they found something against the law? would they arrest you? how would that play out in court? I doubt very well.

At least for once something glaringly unconstitutional was stopped BEFORE it cost the taxpayers a fortune in litigation. So that's a good thing, right?

Grotheer says there’s a *caretaker* provision in state law that allows them to do it.
“There is an exemption in standard search warrant provisions to allow for this caretaker action,” said Grotheer.

If you are going to do something to help take care of people, how about just locking the car doors for them and leave a note of who you are.
