AFAIK you own your land and the sky above it. They took it over property that wasn't theirs. Fail.

Didn't read the article, but my understanding of property rights is that they extend both into the ground and into the air. So, how was flying this thing over private property legal? This theory is the reason why Ozzy was arrested on a plane by Texas Rangers as he flew over Texas.

Really? Because I'm pretty sure you can't legally shoot at a private helicopter flying over your house.

Yea fuck that, if somebody is flying some spy shit drone over my property that fuckers going down.

A 28" shotgun with a full choke and some bigger birdshot should do the trick.

They were flying the drone over public road when it was shot. No property owner came forward saying I shot it because it was my right, in fact the shooters ran away, meaning they knew what they did was illegal.

Better to be safe then in jail.

But by establishing that the landowner owns 500 feet of airspace over their property, then trespassing applies. And in a state like South Carolina, I'm betting there's some fun laws for trespassing that will involve the ability to shoot at things.

I doubt it. The State doesn't tend to just give away the power to make unilateral judgments over others (and so over others' property.) To do so would lead to chaos as personal disputes would escalate into open warfare. So the State tends to demand that you use the civil court system to address such grievances.

Drive through Ehrhardt to the beach.
"Seconds after it hit the air, numerous shots rang out,"
Sounds fairly normal. Us dumb ass rednecks would be hard pressed to not shoot at it.:awe:

I herdz them hexercopterz is good eatin'!

If the animal rights schmucks stuck around long enough I bet they could have at least followed the dog back to the tree stand after it recovered the kill.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_Parakeet#cite_note-EllisNTB-5 "A factor that contributed to their extinction was the unfortunate flocking behavior that led them to return immediately to a location where some of the birds had just been killed. This led to even more being shot by hunters as they gathered about the wounded and dead members of the flock."

Wow very sad.

Just noticed a sad connection to your info-nugget:
The...last [Carolina Parakeet, "Incas"] died at the Cincinnati Zoo on February 21, 1918...Coincidentally, Incas died in the same aviary cage in which the last Passenger Pigeon, "Martha," had died nearly four years prior.

oh the irony of "normal people" committing felonies to act out against a group doing things that are legal.
