Citizens arrest

So Im driving to my soccer game today and low and behold I almost, didnt even get within 10 feet of the guy on the motercycle, hit a motercyclist. I was stopped at a stop sign and didnt see him because he was in my blind spot. I pull out and I see him, I brake and let him go, then pull into the lane (roads were otherwise empty) infront of a guy who follows me to my game 10 miles away. He then waits for me to get out and starts bitching at me and how hes going to call the cops with my licence plate number and whatnot. I tell him to fvck off and walk to my game. I have done nothing illegal (aside from swearing to an adult with a very young child in the back seat, if thats illegal) and am 90% sure nothings going to happen. Its the other 10% that something might happen.

Can anyone help with that 10%?

cliffs:
stop at stop sign
pull into road, not seeing motorcyclist
didnt get close to him but somewhat cut off
pull into lane and am followed
tell guy to fvck off
 
I should clarify, I was not even in the same lane as him. He never moved to avoid me or anything, just drove by not caring.

Citizens arrests states that he could personally arrest you if he witnessed you doing a felony crime. Did he arrest you?

I would've done more than swear at the guy, I would've tell him to call the police...they would laugh at him lol.
 
I would've escalated the incident by following HIM after your argument. He has a child and therefore should have more at stake. Say something like "if you care for your child, you'd better back off."

Or just kick him in the 'nads. Those cleats should leave an imprint (or two). 😛
 
you need to open your eyes more and be more careful. there is no such thing as a blind spot in modern cars today that will hide an object as large as a motorcycle. you do not have your mirrors adjusted correctly.

if you did this to me while i am on my bike, i would either have

a - kicked your car when you came close to me
or
b - kicked your ass when you told me to f-off.

open your eyes better, it is very easy to kill someone on a motorcycle from negligence.

Well I was about to follow once he left but he took too long and I was late for my game, and we only had 7 people. We did win though lol 1-0 against a team with 15 people. Its an adult league so it i guess the age vs youth came into play lol

How closely did you read, or just the cliffs? The guy BEHIND the motorcyclist followed me. And I would dominate you fyi.

I turned into the lane at an intersection. There is a blind spot BEHIND the A-pillar btw.
 
You know it is a d*mnd good thing you did not hit the motorcyclist. You and he/she were very lucky indeed. Don't know about the citizens arrest, if the guy was going to do that he should have done it "Johnny on the spot" in my opinion. Instead of all the cursing and threatening.

Personally I think you are at fault for not using your head to turn and look out your windows while making any turns, lane changes, etc. I don't care if you have stopped at a stop sign or not, or if you were not very close to the guy when this incident happened. You should never completely depend on your mirrors, and always be aware of your surroundings while driving.

I was referring to the fact that an officer can make a felony arrest without witnessing the crime being committed, but that works too.

All States allow Citizen's arrest for "witnessed" felonies or helping police apprehend a suspect, but vary quite a bit for non-felony crimes or felony crimes not witnessed. Basically, you may be on some pretty shaky ground if you attempt to make a Citizen's arrest for a non-felony, or a crime you didn't personally witness.

You aren't protected as a citizen, like a police officer would be, so you'll want to be sure before you play hero. Obviously the idiot following you and threatening is outside his rights for making any kind of arrest, since you committed no crime.

As a motor vehicle driver, you have to be especially carefull of motorcycles, and of course pedestrians and other motor vehicles...bwe careful dude!
