We heard about the video traffic ticketing scam and stealing tax refunds but here are some more. As America is hurting they are really tightening the screws on the middle class....is it go time yet?

new charges for responding to 911 calls to taxes and fees on sodas, bottled water, groceries and grocery bags. One budget officer compares the annoyance factor of these niche taxes to having to pay baggage fees and other airline charges.

Every federally mandated program should be fully funded federally.

That would take care of much of this.

People do not want to have their taxes rasied, yet they scream when services are cut.

So the government has to slice & dice a little, and sneak in fees to cover the needed difference.

And as the above WISE :hmm:poster has commented; ensure that the Feds pay as they go.

Here outside of Denver, the people voted down a 0.1% tax increase to support the city library sytem. Yet, when threee library sites were then closed the same districts were screaming bloody murder.

Ignoring the fact that there is a county library within 3 miles.

All comes from the same place.
States should fund the programs its citizens decide are important and anything left over should be allocated to federal programs.

Excellent points forgot about the whole unfunded mandate aspect. Can't be raising Federal Taxes, might make president look bad, especially on those options (where most CEOs, bailed out bankers and rich derive their pay) Hell Obama cut them but mandate are still in place.

It may come from the same wallets, however the feds count on making others take the heat for their programs. Let those who are responsible be accountable. If a state creates a program have them pay for it. Otherwise those that do need to take the credit good or bad.

KY passed a sales tax on all alcohol. Complete bullshit.

In 1936, PA instituted a "temporary" emergency 10% tax on wine and liquor to fund cleanup from the Johnstown Flood. It's now 18%. On top of that, 6% sales tax (7% in some counties).

The cleanup was finished by 1942, but the tax lingers on, and the emergency tax doesn't even appear on your receipt.

That's why most tax increases should be fought. They NEVER go away even they are supposed to be "temporary".

True. But it's not like the state is going to take away the tax once people have gotten used to paying for it and no longer notice it.

Give the .gov more money, the .gov finds more ways to waste it. How about, be frugal with your resources. If you can't afford it, find cheaper ways to provide it. Choose whats important and cut the bullshit (come on, we all know there is bullshit) this excessive taxing is exactly what the country was founded upon and fought against England because of.

You are asking if it is 'go time' over some fees? How about the multi-trillion dollar bailout package? I guess that fell right off your radar?

I'm not sure sin taxes like soda, booze, smokes are the answer. In fact they become a problem down the line

every politician likes to champion these things because well there's benefits, less fat kids, drunks and cancer. Only problem is when less are consumed, less revenue for their spending sprees they then proceed to bitch of not having enough money.

You do realize that Lincoln created Greenbacks, a major milestone towards the adoption of fiat currencies, which were essentially the predecessor to Federal Reserve Notes that the Fed & Treasury issues today, right?

The gov and the bankers own you because you use their paper to buy your stuff, and which they use to to tax you.

And they SHOULD scream about it. There is so much waste in the system, yet the government's first choice is to punish those who don't want to vote for tax increases by closing libraries and things like that where the public really feels the impact. If they reduced some waste the library could have stayed open without any tax increase. Basically, tell the government to do their job within their means.

The government is like an addict. They will do anything and everything to get that next "hit" (taxpayer money). They'll never voluntarily let go of any revenue.

Yes. Because they are cutting the wrong fvcking sh*t. Cut back salaries, raises, renegotiate with unions, slash pensions. Those are the big ticket items
