Its been like this for months now. Can anyone recommend a credit card not owned by evil empire banks with decent rewards?

I actually rotate 3 based on rewards and/or closing date. Amex blue preferred, Chase Freedom, and Discover More.

Same here, those are my 3 "go to" credit cards for perks/rewards.

Did you hear about BOFA's new credit card perk? It's a very interesting offer.

I made about $1k in rewards last year, shooting for $1,200 this year (mostly by making sure my wife uses the right card at the right time)

I have not, please enlighten me.

I am reluctant to open another account though, trying to boost the avg age, as of right now that is the weakest point on my credit report (cancelled my 12 year old discover in a fit of rage back in 08, only to open it again a year later)

What a brilliant idea, hmmn it should be a web site with better credit card offers.

BOFA Better Balance Rewards there's a lengthy thread here.

* Earn $25 in cash rewards each calendar quarter when you pay more than the monthly minimum and pay each bill on time – up to $100 in cash rewards each year
* Get an extra $5 bonus per quarter if you have at least one other qualifying account with us for an additional $20 in cash rewards per year – that's up to $120 in total cash rewards per year
* Rewards are automatically credited to your card balance or you can choose to deposit them into your savings or checking account
* No Annual Fee

It's not the best rewards cc but it's perfect for my simple needs. I charge my cell phone bill every month, pay it off on time and earn $25 x 4 = $100 per year.
Assuming your typical 1% rewards cc which everyone offers, I would need to charge $10,000.00 to earn $100 rewards.

Same here, I had the BOFA cash rewards went to online chat and requested a product conversion which didn't result in a hard pull. They had to change my credit card # which is fine with me. Of course the downside is they can change the terms and conditions anytime they want.

Hope this helps and my apologies to JEDI for hijacking his thread :)

I've got one of those BofA cash rewards ones, but with Platinum Privileges. I think it's the highest gas rewards available (4.5% after deposit into an appropriate account.) However, need a minimum investment/savings/checking balance of $50k to avoid the annual fee.

Yep I redeemed my previous rewards as a statement credit before converting to the Better Balance Reward card.

Congrats :)
