Arg! my mother was deployed - she left me her Citibank card to pay off some bills that my sister owes, etc.

I have Power of Attorney over my mother right now. She also let me use the card to pay for my gas on my recent road trip to her house. On the way back to Florida, I filled up twice, and I guess her card got flagged for suspicious spending because it keeps getting declined everywhere - the card has a 10K limit, and hasn't really been used in the past year.

I called up Citibank, told them that I have Power of Attorney, and asked if I could fax them a copy for proof so I could get this issue resolved ASAP. They straight up told me there was no number to fax anything to - and that I could snail mail a copy of the document to them if I wished - until then, they would be unable to help me.

WTF - what kind of business doens't have a freakin' fax number to handle important documents like this?

I normally get nothing but excellent customer service from Citibank. Try calling back and asking to speak to a supervisor.

The only probem I have had is moving from 5.9% to 18.9% in a two year period.
They corrected this issue over the phone when I threatened to close the account.

Citi sucks and they call my house 3 times a week to sell me crap I don't need. My wife screamed at them just today.

Call back and speak to someone in account security or a similar department. You *should* be able to fax something in, but you could express mail it for 15 bucks and get it there tommorrow or the next day. A bit much, but totally doable.
