Why does everyone else have luck with CitiBank and I don't?

Wife - Receives a 0% APR for balance transfers through May 2005, applies and is approved for $2,600.00

Sister - Just logged on to her account, payment is DUE TODAY, doubt she has made a payment and it's past the cutoff to post a payment online today. So she will be dinged a $35 late fee which she probably doesn't really care about. Out of curiosity I clicked "Increase credit line request" and it was APPROVED so I just increased her limit from $2,400 to $3,400. I wonder if she'll notice ;)

Me - Still stuck at $5,000 and $2,000 I need my limit to be upped to $20,000!!!

/end of rant

Capital One is the slime of the earth.

CitiBank is one of the best credit card companies out there even if they won't over extend me some credit.

I love my Citibank card. I've never had any problems with it or the customer service. They've been really helpful when I've called with problems.

I meant organization wise. They were involved in pumping up crap stocks couple years ago. I can't imagine giving my business to company that robbed a bunch of working class people. CitiBank is the primary holder in CitiGroup right ? But that's just me :).

She won't care abot that late fee until they jack her interest rate to 19.5%. CC companies use any lame excuse to raise yets.

I used citibank for a stepping stone to better credit. Once I got my credit back on track I got a CC 9% interest and a 15,000 credit limit.

Unlike me she is VERY good at saving money and usually pays off her balance in full.

But you're right. Especially if you have a low APR balance transfer off, if you have any violations (late payment, over the credit limit, etc.) they jack up your APR from 0% up to 19% or so. It's all perfectly legal since it's in the terms and conditions of the offer.

They probably won't extend you any more credit BECAUSE they are one of the best card companies out there. :D

Call up and ask "DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM? I AM ROSSMAN! FEAR MY PPICEMATCH!"

That will be productive. :)

I handle all the finances and I didn't increase my wife's limit.

I increased my sister's credit card limit, she doesn't mind.

What if your sister didn't want to have her credit limit increased? Now she has more available credit than she had before. This could be a bad thing.

Whoa... didn't know you could up your credit online. Just did it and my credit limit went up $1k. Kewlness.

As much as I hate citigroup, I get a higher cash-back than with my discover card. Until someone offers me a card with a higher cash back rate, i'm using the citi.

mine's $6500 (0% till end of 12/04, got it few months ago :))

it used to be $3500, i transferred $3000 from a discover card w/ 12.99% apr over.

after the 1st month, they raised it to $6500 (dont know why!??!), and i transferred another $3000 from the discover :D

soo try maxing out your card, and maybe they'll raise it automatically ;)

does your sister care that she's about to get dinged w a high apr now?

I think when you do this, though, they check your credit score (pull an inquiry). Automatic increases in credit occur only after they check it but it counts under the existing merchant account (ie, you can see on your credit report, and so can they, but nobody else can and it won't change your scores. I am not sure whether a manual credit increase request will go under the existing merchant category or a standard inquiry that affects score. Probably the former, but not sure.

Cool isn't it?

I think we'll wait for her next cc statement to print and see what the (new) APR is.

It's her own damn fault, I'll see if she will sign up for the ACH payment system where they deduct at least the min pymt every month.

Citi will approve a credit limit increase automatically, every six months. Just log in and click the button and you are done. I got my first citicard a few years ago with a $500 limit. Every six months I click that button. Now I'm at $5200.

p.s. they don't pull your credit report for this either.

Why do you want a 20k limit? There is nothing wrong with CitiBank for not offering you a ridiculous credit line.
Mine is 5000 or 7500 and I've been with CitiBank for awhile.
