Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Card for College Students

I decided on this card. Does anyone like or dislike this card? Has anyone got one? It's got 17.99% APR after six months. But I don't plan on using this often, just for gas and food. I will pay it off each month.

Everybody and their mom on AT has this card, or the adult version of this card. If you're gonna pay it off each month, you don't have to worry about the APR. Just get the one that comes w/ the most cash back and/or deals.

I have it, love the rewards.

To get the 5%, make sure you buy your groceries from stores like P&C, Pathmark, etc (won't work for gigantic monster-marts like Wegmens)

Have had this card since I started college 4 years ago...never had any problems. If you forget to pay off your statement on time (this happened to me once cuz I'm an idiot) they charge you I think 40 bucks.

It's a good card.

I honestly don't know. The one time I forgot to pay off my balance and paid off like a week late I had a charge of 39.99 late payment fee. I don't know when the ridiculous intereste rates kick in but I imagine if you don't pay off for a while...

That is correct. When the "bill" comes in, you have about 20 days to pay it. Pay it in full and you're golden.

That is also correct. AFAIK, there is no difference beteween the student and "adult" versions of the card.

I'm up to $1200 cash back so far. Can't beat it.

There's no finance charges of any kind if you pay in full and on time. Like (almost) any other card, there's a late fee if you don't pay on time, and that allows them to jack up your interest rate if they want. So you don't want to be late.

I applied for the MasterCard version of it. It gave me the choice of Visa and Mastercard. I opted for the MC because it had a photo ID on it...

I can't find any differences in them?

getting cash back is the best IMO but you could also consider the Citibank mtvU card. It's geared towards college students.
5 points per dollar spent at restaurants, bookstores, record stores, movie theaters, and video rental stores. 1 point for every dollar you spend on all other purchases. MTVu CC

I have the dividend card and it works great for gas/groceries. 300 yearly limit though.

Does anyone have a list of the gas stations, supermarkets, etc. that the 5% applies to? I emailed CS once and a CSR said they would mail me one, but I never got it

...per card. Get a second card if you hit the $300 limit.

I don't think there could even be such a list. How many thousands of businesses would have to be listed? What determines if you get the 5% is how the merchant codes the transaction, and that's not up to Citibank. If the transaction carries a code that identifies it as gas station, groceries or drug store purchases, you're OK. I don't think there's any way for you to know ahead of time. I've heard that groceries purchased at Super Wal-Mart do NOT get the 5% because Wal-Mart uses a generic "merchandise" transaction code. Again, Citibank doesn't decide what stores get 5%, they just look at how the merchant codes the transaction.

Personally I have never had a problem getting the 5% when I was supposed to, but I buy gas at gas stations while paying at the pump, and buy groceries at supermarkets. I try to make it as trouble-free as possible.
