Cisco running-config modification

Can you modify the config file by doing "config t" and just putting in the modified line or by some other method......or do you have to copy over the entire file?

Thanks

Normally "config t" is how you enter the configuration mode (you know this already). From there you just start typing the commands (or modified lines as you put it).

(I think) the only time you need to copy the entire file is when you need to modify access-lists w/ older versions of IOS or Pix. W/ newer versions you can specify the line numbers w/o screwing things up.
