Well, to help fill up the logs in hope of a lazy admin, I went there for you n0cmonkey! :D

I am taking CCNA right now too, so I already have access to all the same pages.

I wasnt too worried about it. I am at work, but I dont think they would complain too much.

Im thinking about going for a CCNA, but Im not sure if I really want a certification. Ill definitely be reading atleast one book on it when my friend finishes though.

don't fool yourself monkey. You could walk in and pass that test. seriously. At the very least spend 8 hours skimming through a book and you'll be fine.

I have no doubt I could pass it (eventually, I know almost nothing about cisco stuff), even with my track record for these types of tests so far. I just dont know if I think it is worth the time and effort. Learning the skills to use cisco products on the other hand I do believe is worth the time and effort.

don't take the test lightly I took it about two years ago after going through the first four chapters and you can't study for eight hours and take it. You would fail. It's not so much the information as it is that Cisco has a certain way of describing things and they want you to understand their way of doing things, believe me there were many questions that had multiple answers that all looked correct. make sure you played with a router cuase the test has a few questions on how to configure them.

Cisco doesn't know how to dumb down the information...

I'm in a cisco class, and get the cirriculum via http://cisco.netacad.com...

The problem is unless you really really like reading, you'll never make it through the course. I thought it would be interesting, but really it sucks because unless you really grasp things in your memory, you wont be doing too well...

What Spidey07 meant was n0cmonkey had enough REAL WORLD experience and knowledge to pass the test. And YES if you do have real experience and knowledge than 8 hours of studying the few things you don't already know the answer to would be MORE than enough to pass CCNA. The netacademy may be good for someone who has never touched a router or switch before, but there is NO way it would take 2 years to study for CCNA. And as far as the cisco way of things...EVERY computer cert is that way.

That has been my experience as well, with the MS tests we always said... "there is the right way to do it and the MS testing way" because many times they will say things are impossible to do when you know damn well you can do them with other software.

I have to agree, the way they word things is just bs. Real worlds experience will help you on some questions, but on others completely screw you up. Unless you read, and remember everything they want you too, you'll do very poorly on the test. If you haven't taken the test (and don't know how cisco words everything), please don't come in here saying you know what someone needs to read in order pass it.
