So the time has come to recertify my CCNP certification. Here's what happened. I figured, hey, I've got 3 months. What the hell I'll take my switching exam in May and then take the routing exam. All the while knowing that my cert would expire on June 10 if I didn't pass the exams. So I began studying for the Switching exam in late March. When April came around and the weather improved I slacked off and put the book away
. May comes around and suddenly I get a renewed surge of enthusiasm to renew my cert. So I study another two weeks and then take the exam in mid-May. Guess what? I got my a$$ handed to me. (score: 690/1000, needed to pass: 755) ha ha.
I immediately reschedule the exam. The next date available was this past Monday. This time, of course, I passed with flying colors. Although there's one problem. I have until Friday 6/10 to pass the Routing exam! I had a decision to make. Blow it off and let my cert lapse or give it a try and take the exam on Friday anyway.
On Tuesday morning I decided to GO FOR IT. I grabbed the BSCI exam book and began studying. Studied morning noon and night for 2.5 days. I studied my a## off. (actually, I didn't believe I could actually retain as much as I did, go figure).
This morning the big day finally arrived. I got up, drank a nice, strong cup of coffee and headed off to the exam. I was so pumped going into it and felt in control throughout the test. I actually finished with 18 minutes to spare. Then my score came in.
776 is required to pass. I got 774!!!!! OMFG! 2 points away - that's only ONE QUESTION!
Well, I thought it was funny anyway. The ramification is that now I have to retake the routing test. Since my cert expires tonight at midnight I'm going to have to take the Remote Access and Troubleshooting exams later this summer. ahh well. Serves me right. The good news is that the Switching exam recertified my CCNA and CCDA so at least I don't have to go through THAT hell again.
Cliff's:
1. CCNP recert deadline June 10.
2. Came down to the wire. After finally passing the Switching exam I had 3 days left to prepare for the Routing exam.
3. Initiated a marathon studying event lasting 2.5 days.
4. Missed the passing grade on the exam by a measley two (2) points - that's only one question.
5. The kicker is that it's my own (-insert expletive-) fault for delaying so long.
6. It's going to be a long few weeks of prepping for the next two tests
