The 6500E chassis is not yet EOL, but you should consider 6800 series or Nexus 9000 series for new deployment since these two have longer time span.

Catalyst 6000 switche are no longer sold by Cisco (check this link). I suggest to think about Catalyst 6500 and later, or better, about Cisco Nexus switch family, as mentioned by sonitravel09
