We use that at work for our clients. Looks like a price hike is on the horizon.

Hopefully it'll stay stable- if it starts to have as many problems as Scansafe does, it'll become annoying.

I did a search and did not find it; I do not visit Networking forum regularly. Maybe its P&N nevertheless I found it to be interesting.

I'm not sure if I'm excited or sad about it. Cisco does make good stuff, but at the same time, big guy buying a good little guy :p

Agreed; I really like Cisco products, but am probably a bigger fan of open source, so any time a major player buys something like this it always make me quite weary. Typically big boys intentions turn in the wrong direction once bean counters are involved.

I moved away from OpenDNS to using the root servers directly when I migrated my local DNS/cache to a new server and reconfigured it that way. Is there any reason NOT to use the root servers? I'm actually curious.

Supposedly they bought them so they wouldn't go under. I'm hoping that's the case and it's just they see it as a good deal, they pay to keep, and dare I say, help improve OpenDNS going, and they get something that helps them (has security benefits for Cicso networking, at least allegedly that's the impetus behind Cisco wanting OpenDNS to not go under).

That reminds me, I think I switched DNS back to ISP's, there was some issue with Open DNS like a couple of years ago and forgot to switch back after. Not sure if I would've seen any benefit or not.
