Cisco 3600 routers

Are the above any good for the CCNA courses?

I have just picked up 2 on Ebay for very little. There is no printout of the config, but both have 2 RJ45s on the front. I asume these will be Ethernet or Fast ethernet. If they work then fine. If they don't then at worst its cost me a little.

Biggest problem at present is finding a PC with a serial port to configure the routers.

Thanks in advance.

Rob.

Their fine routers, pretty good for their day. Could be used for any CCIE level study, it's just a router. You can get USB serial port adapters.

unfortunately the 2 RJ45 port on the front of the router is for console and aux port.
You are going have to purchase and ethernet module for the router if you want to have an ethernet connection.

I use a Cisco 3620 with two NM-4T modules as a frame relay switch for my home lab. Basing the physical topology on frame relay is nice because it allows me to change my logical topology into almost anything just by changing DLCI numbers, rather than actually mucking with cables.

That said, the 3600 routers are great. You can load them up to do just about anything. They'll run CME very well, they're compatible with the NM-CUE, so you can work with Unity Express, and they run SDM, so you can get some practice with that. They're very versitile.
