Cisco 2610 router and DSL ?

I don?t know what is your DSL service?

Most DSL services need support for PPPOE, I doubt that the Cisco 2610 supports PPPOE.

?Cisco 2600 offers a variety of connectivity options with the reliability and high performance required to address today`s evolving branch office WANs. Up to 8 dedicated 128-kbps synchronous connections, one ISDN BRI and one T1/fractional T1 Frame Relay connections can be simultaneously supported with a single Cisco 2600?.

You cannot use it to replace the DSL router/modem that your ISP issued you. You can use the 2610 (with 2 or more Ethernet ports) to route on your network and provide a gateway to your DSL router.

There is a WIC for ADSL, but it only supports the following DLSAM's:

Alcatel DSLAM based on Alcatel chipset
Cisco 6130/6260 based on the Globespan chipset

Call your provider and ask them what kind of DSLAM they are using or what kind of chipset their DSLAM's are using. Also, you can do PPPOE with this router, but you need to have IOS 12.1(3)XG or better. I'd recommend 12.1.7, which requires 8MB Flash and 40MB RAM. Best of luck and be sure to post back with any more questions or config issues.

Well, I stand corrected by our WAN experts. 🙂 Thanks for the correction. I thought that the Cisco 2600 series would be able to support xDSL, but I was not sure.

Well you might still be right Shadow, if his provider doesn't use one of the DSLAM's I mentioned. The Alcatel stuff is really popular though (translate: cheap), and the Cisco DSLAM has a decent market share in spite of its price. Must be the high-pressure sales tactics.
