CIS, network engineering or chemical engineering

Do you think that CIS-Information Systems has value in the job market?

Is network engineering an improvement over it? There seems to be some conflicting views.

IMO, chemical engineering >>>>> network engineering

I mean.. are universities actually giving out degrees in 'network engineering' now? Can you get a PE in network engineering? I really don't think so.
