I have a buddy's old Packard Bell sitting on my bench that he bought in 98. He got a 2 year warranty then extended it for two more, The warranty is up in April of this year. The machine was booting to the splash screen then stopping. I stuck in a boot disk and used fdisk to delete & create the dos partition and formated C. When it checked the drive integrity it stopped at 52% then restarted. It did this a couple more times before I could shut down, restart and try to load windows. When I tryed to put windows 98SE on it, it says there isn't enough room on the hard drive. It's a single partition 6.1 gig for Gods sake!!!
So I called Circut City support and we went through 3 hours of testing (mostly on hold though) then the young lady told me she would call me back at 7pm the next night. She called at 6pm and I wasn't here, and now I can't get ahold of her.
I stuck an old 3 gig hard drive in it and it works fine. How can I resolve this? I'm afraid to tell them I tried another drive because they may void the warranty, but in the same token they seem to be playing my here. What can I do?
Man I realize that it's a Packard Bell, but THEY sold him the warranty and I would think they would have to support it.
