Circumcision Lawsuit "diminished sexual sensation injury"

Lawsuits - the new American lottery

I don't think they should win, because the mother consented. What did she think, it was going to feel good for her son to have a knife to his penis?

If she didn't consent to the procedure, I wouldn't have a problem w/ the suit, or if when the kid turned 18, he wanted to sue his parents for it, that wouldn't bother me either.

It looks like this is being allowed to go to court so that Medicaid and insurance companies can get out of paying for the procedure passing the additional cost on to the parents.

what the hell did they think a circumcision was? do they live in a cave or something?

Everyone knows what it is, the problem is doctors aren't telling parents of all the potential effects & risks, and I think the article hits on the reason why with this:

About 1.2 million newborns are circumcised in the United States every year, at a cost of $150 million to $270 million, the American Academy of Pediatrics says.

That's a lot of money for a quick procedure that isn't usually medically necessary.

That's also the reason that they perform 1.2 million operations that aren't medically neccesary every year.

What about suing for bad haircuts? Ever see kids with mullets or the little tail thingies on the back of their heads.

I think being labeled as white trash at 3 or 4 years old is probably worse than loosing a little skin.

i dunno, i think some things fall under "common sense". you're hacking off a piece of the penis, do you really think the child will not feel pain? or that there is a chance something will go wrong? bleeding?

i agree, they should say this stuff, but i have to wonder what kind of an idiot you have to be to not be able to just look at what is going on and figure it out yourself. not to mention, if you don't know, you should always ask.

What, did the doc slip with you and chop off more than foreskin?

I don't get it; I'm "cut" and I have had no problem w/sexual sensation/stimulation. In fact, that's my biggest problem; Mr. Happy continues to get me in trouble. 🙁

They don't cut "your penis"; they cut off a piece of excess skin. Circumcison is safe and healthy.

No, but foreskins don't grow back either.

HOw fvcking ridiculous:

Josiah Flatt, like about 60 percent of other newborn American boys, was circumcised soon after he was born here, in the spring of 1997. Two years later, his parents sued the doctor and the hospital.

How would the parents know what kind of pain he felt, or that he's even feeling any sexual sensation whatsoever? Morons..the kid is fvcking 5 years old

Is it necesary for life, i.e. clearing out the lungs, No, it's not. But, it is common medical procedure in the USA. Also, typically, it does promote better personal hygeine. From what I read, not all uncut men properly pull back the foreskin and clean properly when bathing, resulting in a greater number of UTI's vs. circumcised men.

A lot of men also don't brush their teeth properly and get cavities, so should we start pulling all their teeth out?

We've gone over this before...

It is not needed in todays society of soap and running water.

I wonder how many atheists are circumsized ... Hmmm.. that's something to think about next time you're in the shower and you look down.

I would venture to assume that a great many of you are circumsized, and you don't even know where the procdure originates from.....
