hey guys, i just have a simple circuits question.......I am studying for my circuits final and this question just occured to me.... when you do find admittance and impedance for an AC circuit, in what situation do you use each one? Does it even matter?

As far as I learnt, impendence is used when you want to do frequency analysis on the circuit, as in you want to find the frequence at which the circuit attenuates or amplifies the signal. It's usually used in the s-domain analysis.

I know that...but there is also admittance, which is the inverse of impedance. Is it just something you are supposed to know like conductance is the inverse of resistance?

I believe so. I don't think I've ever used admittance to solve a problem.

I believe that you can use either admittance or impedance. Some equations look a little cleaner if you use admittance. If you wish to calculate mobility of a device, it is proportional to conductivity (which is proportional to admittance)
