Don't get this mixed up with the gift certificates. Gift checks were not originally being honored by Circuit city but they are now! They even throwing in extra $$$. If you have one of these from the X'mas promotion, contact
Here's what I received this morning:

GREAT NEWS!

You're receiving this e-mail either because you registered
your Gift Check with 800.com or you own an unexpired Gift
Check.

Originally when we announced that we were buying certain
assets of 800.com we said we would only be able to honor
unexpired gift certificates from 800.com. We've heard from
you and we've now decided to honor certain 800.com Gift
Checks as well.

Q: How are we going to honor your 800.com Gift Check?
A: We're going to convert it to a Circuit City Gift Card.
For Gift Checks with a value of less than $100 we're
going to throw in an additional $5 and add an additional
$10 for Gift Checks with a value of $100 or more. If you
live outside of the U.S. or in an area where you won't
be able to go to a Circuit City store to spend your new
Gift Card, we can mail you a check for the value of your
Gift Check.

Great, great info. I didn't get the email, since I hadn't registered. But they said that it was probable that I'd get my gift check. I have to call back next week to find out. Thanks a bunch.
