i read that they transferred data onto a floor model computer and then to another place. Some employee forgot to wipe the floor model computer's data.

I think driving to CC with a base ball bat would sound very good, if that was me.

Wow. CC really is dumb. I just quit Best Buy recently and when i walked into CC one time, they offered me a job and I said, "Sorry, I know too much about computers to work here."

i am a little confused as to why they copied her files to a floor model computer before putting it on her new computer... I feel it is a slipup on the part of CC to not delete those files, but I also think the lady should have realized that theres always a chance of your files getting around if you pay anyone to do something like that.

oh, btw, i work at CC :)

on the back of my Best Buy Extended Warranty... it says that BB is in no way responsible for my data. I wonder if CC will use something like that and stretch it to say that it means ... losing, publishing or transferring it to a floor model.

:)

even assuming they deleted the files, anyone that was curious as to what the computer had been used for in its life as a floormodel could have used an undelete program and discovered the files. Granted, most people aren't that curious, but there is always someone.

btw, where do you work? i want to find something wrong with it, so I can give you a thumbsdown, too

You came from bestbuy though...you really don't have any place to be talking. CC really fvcked up this time and they will probably pay big for it.

I don't work

Yes, There always can be someone sick like that and it'd be that person's fault. This time, it was the clerk's fault and he should pay for it. Follwing your logic, I guess I can steal something(hey, if not me, someone's gonna do it), kill someone(hey, if not me, someone will kill you anyway). Knowing that special someone exists must be just great. Hey~ 9.11 isn't Bin Laden's fault, if it wasn't him, someone else would've done it?

BTW, why the hell did your people use floor model computer for that purpose?

P.S: A CC customer running Undelete program? You expect too much from your customer.

what? i think you don't follow my logic. I am saying that even if they had deleted the info, someone could have gotten it. I am not expecting a customer to walk in with an undelete prog and start using it on the displays, but whoever eventually buys it.

and we don't normally use the display models for anything but showing a customer what they are buying, I have no idea why they used it for transferring files. Note my confusion in an earlier post.

oh, thought i'de mention this, too.. My parent's bought a CC floor model computer ~3 years ago, before I worked there. I formatted it and re-installed windows before even using it, just out of the fear of viruses, leftover files, and messed up settings.
