people that buy extended warranties are idiots.

except on laptops where you may actually need to use that warranty, especially if you're not willing to shell out another $500-1000 for a new system.

No worries, it was more than 10 years ago so I've wised up in the meantime. :) However, as I recall, it was like a $50 warranty on a $250 top-of-the-line portable device, and at the time my big concern was what would happen if it died and I couldn't get a replacement for exactly the same thing.

Now, I will admit - I *have* heard of some companies going to these lenghts to make customers happy. CC is not one of them. Lol.

PS: For portable devices, I actually think that complete replacment policies used to be the norm... (extended warranties have gotten more and more shady over the years)

No complete care from Dell in NY.

I go to pick up the player and ask what the paperwork says about water damage. There was nothing there but a denial of service note. I ask what the Cityadvantage warranty is good for and before I can get the sentece out, he looks at it, says it looks like it is fine and then says "how far are you from home". I ask why and he says they should have just swapped it without sending it in and gives me a new unit with a new battery, sans the cords I had at home. Along with that, the price was $20 cheaper, so I got a gift card that bought Shark Tale for the kids.

All that and the wife says I can get a new electronic drum set for Valentine's Day. Pinch me, I must be dreaming.

I've actually had good luck with the extended warrenty on my bigscreen TV from CC and I say it was worth the $$. Most times I would not ever buy it except for laptops and Big screens.
