If you are refering to the link that was posted... do you mean why when circles touch are they not flush on all sides?
 
holy crap i was so freakin confused.. till that link

it's pretty obvious why there are gaps.. they're not all flush with each other.. because it's round, only one point of the circle can touch any one point on any other circle at any time..
 
I think he's trying to get us to do his homework.

I don't think there is anyone that's a big enough loser to sit around and ponder these sorts of things.
