Cingulars Wireless Laptop Connect Plan

To those who are using the Unlimited service plan:

is the connection reliable in metro areas?
how fast is the connection speed on average?

I am thinking about getting that service and just killing my high speed internet at home which costs roughly about the same price.

Thanks for responses.

It is going to not be that great..

Verizon Wireless supposedely has the best Internet coverage in the U.S and my friend has a phone that can handle close to DSL speed connections.

I was downloading at like 12-20KB/sec max

I would say cingular is not going to be any better than that.

Your V3 will only do max 180kb's max if you can get UMTS get a UMTS card/phone then you can do 1.5mbps ish on umts dont go on edge though its like a supped up dial up connection.

I was talking about the Laptop Plan where I can use the Cingular wireless PC card on my laptop and connect to the internet from "anywhere."

cingular data speed is pathetic, get a verizon/sprint 3g evdo card, it will be MUCH better than cingular

The problem with the companies, be it Sprint or Verizon is that they ban the use of VOIP. I forget if one does or both.

I think only verizon does, I have used sprint data service and used skype before. I guess if you use a lot of voip they would take notice and try do something about it
