i've done that several times and they just say they r not supporting this phone. the customer support doesn't know anything about the wireless internet stuff.... and have to find someone else know about this.

they also gave me a bogus # to dial for more support.

i just need to get some info like maps, restaurant, movie etc while i'm away from my PC's or during road trips.

not sure if this will help or not, but here goes...
for what i understand, there is two types of internet you will be dealing with

1. internet from the cell phone itself. for myself i dont find that very useful, screen too small, i use phone to call ppl and thats about it.

2. internet access via a notebook connected to ur cell phone. (so your cell phone acts as a wireless modem). =)
get it so far?

Now with cingular, I believe u need to get the nokia 7160 phone, the phone comes with the data cable and software cd to get you started. With this setup you can do option #2.

or...

if you want option #1 ... go with someone like AT&T, sprint, and just about everyone else have this service.

btw.. a side note.. not to plug cingular or nething.. cause i dont work for them...

it might be a GREAT or "HOT" deal if u can get this promo
get the free nights and weekend plus free long distance for $39.99 per month
plus get the internet feature for an extra $9.99
this will give you

400 anytime
free night and weekend (nights starts at 9pm, weekends is all day sat and all day sun)
free long distance anywhere in the us
and internet access via ur wireless modem!! (great if ur a person that travels on the road, or a college student, no need for a phone line ne more!!!!)

total cost (before FCC taxes and state ..etc....)

$49.98

feel free to ask more questions
hope this helped.
good luck

:)

thanks for the info.

R380 is a wap phone and to connect to the internet.... i need to dial-up to ISP of my choice.
it's like normal PC dial-up.... i can check email, surf etc.

it also have a modem, so it can be used as a modem to dial-up from the phone... using the
provided data cable/ infra red port.

i'm suspecting that the modem is kinda faulty...... everytime i tried to dial-up.... the phone just
tried to dial the # and then back to ready mode.
