Some guy at Sams Club told my parents if we bump our monthly minutes up from our current alotment to a higher plan, all the phones on our family plan will be extended to a 2 year contract (they are all currently out of contract).

I've NEVER heard this being done before and think he was BS'ing them, am i right?

Tried calling cingular but their CS is closed on sunday.

I believe that he is correct. That *is* what happens with Verizon and Sprint/Nextel, I know.

So when you change your plan on Sprint/Nextel, you have to sign another contract?

Yep. It's automatic. By changing your plan, you're changing yourself to a new contract.
