Cingular customers: Can I upgrade a phone on my family plan but use my SIM card?

Anyone have experience with this? I don't see why it wouldn't work, but you never know.

yup, ive done this a few times in my family. My moms phone was upgradeable and she liked her old phone, so she upgraded her phone, and gave it to me.

Yup - i've done it also.

My wife (on a separate Cingular account) was due for an upgrade and I wanted the Blackberry.

I went in and the guy at the counter knew what it is that I was doing and made sure that the Blackberry services were on my SIM and not her SIM.

Dont you extend your contract another 2 years if you do the phone upgrade ?

Doesn't sound worth it to me.

extending the contract is worth it for me. THe reception has been great and I've had no problems with Cingular.
