I am thinking about signing up for Cingular cellular service, but I travel between Northern and Southern california a lot.

My area code will be a Los Angeles 310 area code...but my question is what happens when I travel to say, San Francisco....

if I receive a call, there should be no additional charges right...

but what about when I dial San Fran area codes when I am in San Fran? does that count as long distance? What if I call a L.A. area code from San Fran? which one of these is long distance? it can't be both....

It all depends on ur service plan and what kind of "roaming" you have...it's best like pulse said though to ask cingular. You might want to try verizon...cuz cingular sucks ass in so cal...and verizon gets great service when i went back up north.

You would need to get a regional plan. Basically all the local plans now work like this. Inside the local area, you get (depending on which plan you get) the minutes you bought, no long distance charges, etc. If you go outside the local calling area, you get charged for long distance and roaming.

Sucks, they used to have it where your local area was your whole state, but they changed that and denied the old plan when I mentioned it.

my home calling area include the whole california and nevada.... and free long distance + unlimited nights and weekends.

so calling LA from SF on my cell phone..... it's considered local call. if i make any call outside CA and Nevada..... it's long distance.

i got sprint PCS and it was nation wide long distance and no roaming on the digital network.

So i can go anywhere in the US and not worry about roaming and LD charges as long as i am in the digital network..
