If you have insurance and get a new phone through the insurance, can (or do) they cut off the other phone? My phone won't tell me if there are voice messages and more and I wanted to give it to my girlfirend so she can keep it in her car incase she needed it. If I get a new one, will the old one still work?

Yes they cut off the other phone...
Get another phone through the family talk program--you share minutes and features, but she'd have her own phone number. You can get unlimited mobile-to-mobile if you plan on talking to each other a lot, it doesn't count against your monthly minutes. I pay an extra $14.99 a month for my second phone, but I think it's gone up to $16.99. I am not that crazy about Cingular, but my friends have Sprint and AT&T and they seem to suck worse (the call quality is horrible, but this is Northern Nevada, I can't speak for every area), so I think I have the best that is available in my area.

By law, old phones are requried to be able to dial 911. But she wont be able to talk to you. I second the familytalk idea. For the 16.99 a month, you get to choose a promotion to add to both phones (long distance for both phones for free, free mobile to mobile, or free nights and weekends). You share the minutes, and the primary account holder gets to keep the promotions that they had before hand (free nights/weekends for me) but I don't think that the other user gets that promotion. Still a good deal though.
