Cincinnati Bell Advertisements

I get this ad at the top of EVERY page it seems, I never get a different ad. When this ad opens, it doubles its size, which covers up the buttons at the top, and covers the Forum title, which I use a lot to reload the page. It plays its annoying animation for what seems like an eternity when I want to use those buttons before going back to normal advertisement size.

Please. I dont mind the ads so much, I know you make lots of money from them, but ads like this are just insane. They need to stay in their own little box.

I can't believe how stupid advertising people can be, why would they want to aggravate people this way ?

btw, my comment isn't really a forum issue, I know this doesn't have anything to do with Anandtechor the forums, but I wanted to get it off my chest.

To the people suggesting a different browser or additional software. Pay CLOSE attention to the title bar of the browser. This guy knows what he is doing on a computer, there are extenuating circumstances.

The ad is obnoxious and you would think AT would not want people to use ad filters...

Agreed, AT WANTS ad revenue, and I am willing to let them have it, but I do not like ads taking over the useability of a page.

if AT wants my ad revenue then they need to be more careful about what ads they run. :)

I agree about these ads. Sure AT wants them for revenue but please keep them inside the box. I can't click the buttons at the top until it is done either (Both IE and firefox show it the same way so it isn't really the web browser). I don't mind the banner as long as it doesn't cover up what I am trying to do.

I have accidentally clicked the ad because I meant to click the button BEHIND the ad but maybe that is the point, more ad revenue :p

Exactly the same here. It's pissing me off. I've never used the ad blockers because I want the site to get a little revenue, but if stuff like this keeps showing up I'm going to have to do something.

Amen. I don't mind seeing ads along the side and top bar as long as they behave. When the stupid thing jumps out over the screen, steals focus, and generally acts annoying that's just too much.

Please AT, give us a break.

I'm gonna have to chime in w/ the above posters as well, this ad is really a problem espicaly at work where I can't load an ad blocker I don't have issue w/ the adds and sometimes they even have useful products by this one has got to go or at least stay it its little box and not expand to cause issues.

I haven't gotten it on my computer yet. (Maybe Anand got it killed?) I must say that adverts are fine and I even click on interesting ones from time to time, but annoying/obnoxious adverts will leave me seeking ways to eliminate all of them.

Same here. I don't get ANY ad on the FI page where ScottSwingleComputers shows the Bell one.

Could be regional, but I say we keep bumping this thread until something changes with this thing. Like I said before, I don't mind seeing an ad up there at all, but when it covers the navigation buttons THAT"S JUST BAD MANNERS!!!!
