My boss loves cigars and his bday is coming up and I think it would be the perfect gift. I want to get him the absolute best - but I don't know jack about them. Can any cigar connoisseurs chime in with some ideas? I can only spend about $100.

How many do you plan to buy? I like Perdomo, Zino Platinum, Montecristo Serie C, The Griffins and some others.

Don't care about quantity. If I could get even 2 or 3 of the best stuff, that would be better than 10 average quality. I just hope that my budget is adequate.

If you want to go "name" - go with Opus X, he'll be impressed.

Also if you have time, you could join a (reputable) cigar forum and see if somebody (again reputable) would hook you up with some good cubans.

Looks like these are very hard to come by but from the looks of it, it is definitely something along the lines of what I am looking for. Have you ever tried to order one online? What was the turnaround? Store?

Opus X is pretty rare in online shops and then they usually sell boxes only. If you are in NYC I'm sure there's a shop that will sell singles of them. you'll pay full retail, but that's the nature of expensive cigars :D

I'm sure it's not even close to being the best place in the city, but I just stayed at the Renaissance hotel in Times Square and there was a cigar shop around like 53rd and 7th or 8th?

Nat Sherman has a lot of cigars. I don't know is they're all NS but worth checking out. I think their store is on 5th and 42nd but I may have read that they moved recently.
