What do you think?

Unconfrimed reports also have surfaced he escaped. Still looking for a link on that one though.

I think Saddam has impersonaters, and we have no idea how reliable their source was... but we do know they only had ONE source.

We also know that the U.S. has failed pretty miserably in actually killing political figures they don't like, i.e. bin laden and castro.

I hope their luck has changed and they got him though.

At this point...I think he's history. I bet one of those 2000lb butt buster bombs would have done the trick...but four! They had to know he was there to say..."drop all you have". They say a 60ft crater was left. Noooo one is going to find his remains. They wanted to make sure the information minister didn't try to gather up remains and try to clone him again! ;):p

I got the impression there were at least 2 if not 3 people physically on the ground who witnessed him entering the building. Who knows, he may already be in Tikrit.

I asked my Magic 8 Ball if Saddam was dead and it said, "Don't count on it." So there ya go.

I heard them talking on the radio this morning, they said it was an Iraqi that the CIA recruited, and a member of Delta Force that saw him enter the place. Knowing him though, it could have had a tunnel to another building, and he just went in there to lose the tail.

I've been hearing on the radio that British intelligence says he may have left hours before the attack or may have not been there at all that day. I'm also hearing that Iraqi civilians/onlookers have 'cleaned up' the scene of the bombing and destroyed lots of evidence...so we may never know.

That said...watching that statue fall tells me that he's finished. I pray that the Iraqis get to him before we do...they will make him suffer...

Hope they got him. With the doubles, it is hard to tell. He may be sippin long island iced teas someplace tropical for all we know. Anyway what matters is that he is not in control.

Considering that a B-1b can carry about 70,000 lbs of bombs, dropping only 8,000 lbs on Saddam was going easy on him...

Then again, since using only 4 bombs still left a 60 foot crater, using more wouldn't really accomplish anything other than making a bigger crater.

Saturn moving at 70 mph weighing 2500 lbs strikes a pedestrian and kills him
An 18 wheeler moving at 70 mph and weighing many many tons strikes a pedestrian and kills him

The question is---- which of the above leaves the pedestrian less dead, and therefore is going easier on him?

You made your reply after I edited my post.

A person getting hit by a car still has a chance of surviving. Getting hit by a truck lessens that chance. If you have a rare opportunity to hit a target and you think that you may only have one chance to do it, you're going to make damn sure that you hit him with something big. You do not want to leave open the possibility of him surviving the strike on that building, you have to level it.

The fact is the CIA doesn't know (yet). The Magic8 is just as "good" a source as "Unconfirmed reports" given out on condition. of "anonymity".

We can HOPE so. But don't break out the champaigne yet. ;)

The B-1 Bomber that dropped the JDAMBs was already circling in the area, and there was supposedly only a fifteen minute gap between the time the source called in that he went into the building, and the time the B-1 turned it into a crater.

The B-1 was flying over western Iraq and had a mission to drop ordnance there when they were ordered to head to Baghdad. They requested to finish their initial run but were denied with the addendum that this may be 'the big one'. 45 min. later...BOOM. And, they triple-checked the bombs' coordinates.
