The urgency of the Iraqi threat was Bush's main argument for the war. But the president said Thursday he still would have invaded Iraq if he'd known no weapons stockpiles existed ? adding a new element to the much-debated question of whether the United States went to war based on faulty assumptions.
In other words, the existence of WMD wasn't needed as a justification for this war. So does someone, anyone, have a reasonable explanation why Bush pushed for this war primarily based on WMD?

Cause it might not sound as good if he had said "We need to attack Iraq to draw away attention from my inability to capture Osama Bin Laden or one of the other people behind 9/11!"
