But the faith-based issue is really a different thread - it was just used to further point out your hypocracy with this. You'll let them help but they can't preach? WTF are you to tell them who they can and can't preach to, especially since they are the ones actually trying to help people.

CkG
NO preaching, Cad. That's what pisses people off: Government-sanctioned and sponsored preaching. Just freaking help the people and STFU. That's what really matters, right? Helping the people? Or is it just a thinly-veiled way to proselytize to more people?

Yes, helping those who NEED help is what is important with charities. But who are YOU(a bystander) to tell someone who they can and can't preach to? Are you both trying to limit what they people can say/do? How very elitist of those who are standing on the sidelines looking in. Maybe YOU should get off your duff and help those who NEED help instead of whining about those who actually ARE HELPING those who need it.
CkG
What's always nice is when elitist religious organizations decide to exclude certain people from getting help.
Zephyr
"exclude certain people from getting help"? oh really? I didn't realize that you had to convert to recieve help from these faith-based charities. I know many charitable organizations that help ANYONE, regardless of spiritual standing or affiliation, when they are in need. Infact I dropped off a big load of kids clothes a while ago to a place(faith-based charitable org) that helps those in need in the DesMoines area.

Rhetorical obfuscation on your part. If Infohawk really knew anything about logic he'd lecture you at length on it. I'll be as brief as possible. Disagreeing with conjur on one point (religion) does not logically affect the validity of their views on another point, no matter how much you wish to make it so.

The real point here is that the leaders of a huge mainstream body of believers are aghast at Bush's environmental policy.

No. Infovulture wouldn't know logic if spock flashed him a \\// sign;) Anyway - I found it curious that conjur thought it was important to hold this up for everyone even though he thinks these people are ignorant.
*shrugs* Whatever, I guess. Bash away;)

I happen to be the guy paying the taxes which end up in the hands of religious orgs who then use it "help people" which under your guidelines seems to include proselytizing and/or preaching to people as they do it. I like my gov't and the religions to be nicely separated. Yup, THAT'S who I am.

Oh, and go spout your "elitist" nonsense elsewhere. Did you ever look that word up Cad? Seriously . . .

Thats all I needed to know, maybe when you mature you can answer my questions, but to say you won't answer my question because its off topic? Its a political forum, maybe its off topic of the thread but when you put up your signature "John ForAgainst Kerry" or " Kerry Baby" where it sings about him flip flopping on issues, it shows me how ignorant you are and how desperate the republican party is getting.. You are nothing but a tool, a part of a propaganda machine that is missing most of its bolts, screws, and gears. To sum it all up, you are nothing but a liar, because you preach lies and you know they are very far from the truth.

But then we all know the only reason you are avoiding the question is that you don't have an answer. For if you did have one, you would have no problem giving me your rebutle. Would you like it if I put an obvious lie, or mistatement about GWB in my signature that is being used by the democratic party?

I think not.

OK, so you being a taxpayer gives you the right to tell a faith-based organization what they can say to the people they are helping? Can I tell other orgs that get federal money what they can tell people they are helping? What right do you have to limit what these organizations say? I understand you don't want federal money going to preaching but I don't think you realize that these places are there to help people FIRST not convert them. Try being "open minded" like you all claim you are about other things.;)
Maybe people should be a little more greatful for these organizations who are actually helping the people most people only pay lipservice to.

Why do you insist on making this about me? It's not. It's about faith-based initiatives. Yes, I have a problem with them - my problem being the potential to discriminate (i.e. only helping those of your particular faith) and the mixing of church and state. I don't mind if they help, which is after all what they're supposed to do, however I do mind when they preach/convert/proselytize/witness in the process of using taxpayer funds. If they want free reign to do whatever, they can stick to taking straight donations like they always have.

IMHO, the whole faith-based initiative is more about Bush pandering to his Christian/Conservative base and less about helping people.

Cad....why can't you address his points? He posted valid points, and all you can do is avoid responding to them? Where is that world renowned Cad arguing skill? You won't respond because it's not on topic? Then you tell him to get another thread to "whine in"? So, you won't adress the points in this thread, and if it's in another thread, you won't respond because it's just whining right?

Seems like there is only one person whining and avoiding the truth. Ohhh...and the "bash away" comment is great. Whenever something negative is posted, you just write it off as "bashing", but in your Kerry threads it's "just posting the facts" right?

I see things in Cad's forum never change...

Yes, I missed all of CAD's good arguments about how the new regulations will help the environment.

Yeah:roll: somethings don't change - almost every thread gets turned in one giant Bush bashing thread which Junkie is trying to do. If Junkie wants to address those points - he can find the threads more appropriate for them. People here would throw a fit if I posted a broad wide ranging turd like he did in the middle of a thread - so I3D - I hope I don't see you accusing me of such things in the future. Thanks:)

Oh and *cookie* for Junkie

Thank you Chess, and Insane for the support. I feel like it doesn't matter the thread, if I were to create one Cad and mention the same things I mentioned here, would you bother even responding? The fact remains that you are using "off the topic" as an excuse to get out of answering the question, and since it was in response to "Kerry Baby" which is in your signature, I felt that if you were willing to make clear your feelings on John Kerry, I wanted to make clear my feelings on George Bush. Oh and the facts about GWB are just that; facts, and they are not "turds". If you wish to respond to my questions with a witty remark like "cookie" for your rebutle just to make you feel better, then go ahead.

Aww...poor baby can't handle the humor in my sig.:p
Find the thread I started about your little rhetoric and accusational rant. But that one still isn't really about each individual issue. It's more of a thread for people to see rhetoric and accusation all rolled into one large rant.:p But like I said - if you want to fight out each issue then find the appropriate thread - there are threads on almost all of them if not many threads on each.

Oh and you "pwned" yourself(according to SudeerAnne, Bow, and the other intarweb kiddies) because I alread started a thread on your rant. Funny - you didn't seem to find it before posting this.

Thats because when I posted this I had a very limited time at my computer. Otherwise I would have probably have seen your thread on this "rant" rather than responding in this one...

Make up some new witty remarks, I look forward to reading them.
