Chumbo.com & BFG 6800 Ultra's

Hey all,

Not an ad at all, and I'm not affiliated with Chumbo (or BFG) in any way, but thought this might be good to pass along.

I was trying very hard to get a BFG card (either GT or Ultra - whichever I could get first), and while prices are being gouged on places like eBay, noticed that Chumbo.com would let you order the Ultra. (The GT is NOT orderable at the present time.)

Price is $499.99 and it includes FREE 2-day FedEx shipping, which is not gouged at all and actually a very good deal considering what it's goin' for elsewhere. I was skeptical that they'd get mine out. (First place I ordered from got delayed two weeks and I cancelled...that was a GT though), but mine shipped within a week, and their ship dates seem pretty accurate. Haven't gotten it yet, but should this week and I have a tracking number. =o)

So anyone looking for a good deal, these guys are for real and their expected ship dates seem pretty accurate (mine was a day or two after the last one, but I'm happy with that). They also allow cancels if it takes longer than expected, etc. But they seem to be getting them out fairly well.

Been "On order" for weeks. They're first-come first serve (but the fact they're orderable means they think they'll get some in a very reasonable time...otherwise they say "Highly Allocated" and won't let you buy). No promises, but for the price, I was impressed. From what I recall, I ordered it like...the beginning of last week, and it shipped Friday (a day or two after the ship date listed on their site, but still). When I called to inquire before it shipped, they led me to believe they were getting a large quantity soon and if it hadn't already shipped, they'd be able to fill most orders already placed next week. Whether that's still the case, who knows, but since they're the link BFG lists as "direct from us", I assume they get a large quantity. Good luck.

I was getting the waterblock from them and I've been waiting for a while, then out of nowhere they don't even have it in the page anymore, as if it never existed. So I've been waiting for the Ultra since the 18th.

I don't think their customer service is all that great, but I really hope that they go through with sending me an Ultra. Tomorrow makes it 5 days I've been waiting, while everybody else couldn't wait and bought the thing for $530 somewhere else.

Can't speak for the water block solution (though I did see it). That may or may not hold it up more - I dunno - I got the plain Ultra. But good luck. It was somewhere around a week before mine shipped, so hang in there. I think the wait's worth it considering how much more it is most places (I've seen it goin' for $620 some places without shipping! And on eBay I've seen the prices all over the place.)
