CNN's reporting that Chrysler is halting production for an entire month, effectively shutting down.

So does that mean I can't see how the Dodge Ram Challenge Never Back Down ends???

They're not coming back. Cerberus is going to chop them up and sell it all off, betting that GM and Ford will get the bailout and be willing to acquire some valuable properties such as the Jeep brand.

No point in continuing to make a product if the ones you already have made haven't sold yet.

I'm guessing that the people who work for them will not be receiving pay. Sucks for them, and that's a pretty significant amount of people out of work in those areas. I know Toyota kept the people in San Antonio on payroll, using the time for training and maintenance.

Umm, union?

Of course they will be getting paid. Not only that it would make ZERO sense for them to not pay them.

If after the shutdown there is no shortage of vehicles then it's a clear sign they're making too many to begin with. These are things they really need to evaluate, it all adds up.

Well they usually shut down for 2 weeks at year end for the holidays.

They are just extending the break to double.

this means 100's of workers without a job, but have you seen Chrysler product line lately. The Sebring. Pacifica and PT Cruiser are some of the worst cars on the road. They need to scrap the junk cars and start making quality products that honda, toyota and nissan have done for years.. you don't seem they crying "bailout"

Correct. Ford does the same thing at the end of year and will be extending theirs by an extra week.

Bad move. I just bought a brand new $15,000 Model 2010 Chrysler 300 now that Chrysler was sold off at fire-sale prices and without the crappy union overhead.

After everyone saw their negative bank accounts they realized getting a new leased car every 2 years was a pretty stupid idea.

You do, actually. Toyota has clearly said that any one of GM/Chrysler/Ford failing will disrupt the supply chain badly enough to screw all of them.

I just pulled all the money out of my savings accounts. I suggest everyone go run and do the same before it's too late.

I can't understand why you have a business made up of educated people who can't seem to:

A. Budget
B. Live within a budget
C. Trim the fat when times are lean

Yup, and Honda just announced they fell short of their prediction on profits by 64%. We hear about the big 3 because they're in our back yard but all of the automakers are pretty much hosed right now.
