Chrysler expects ragtop to rev sagging PT Cruiser sales

Too bad it's ugly as hell. And as soon as the Mini Cabrio gets here, this thing will be tossed aside like yesterday's dirty underwear.

Chrysler would be better off discontinuing the PT Cruiser.

Why would they do that? It's their best selling nameplate in the Chrysler lineup

That thing will own the PT Cruiser convert

wow, that looks like it will be incredibly good looking top down. IMO, very few cars can pull it off successfully but it sure looks like the mini will. Even looks good top up. Thanks for the links.

UGH. I take that back. top down pictures. YUCK, wasup with the VW beetle style foldown? :disgust:

I think they did it that way for a couple of reasons. First off, the Mini is very small anyway so there is not much room in the "trunk" to store the top. Additionally, I have read they are using some sort of cable-driven system instead of hydraulics so the folding mechanism takes up even less space in the vehicle. Doing the top this way also allows the Cabrio to be a four-seater even though it's still a tiny car.
Also, the lack of hydraulics and a hard tonneau cover will probably help keep costs down.

Dude, that's the only way they can do it. The Mini is too small to stow the top any other way.
