The 3.0l's valve stem seals suck. Just about anytime you see a chrysler product blowing oil smoke it has a 3.0l in it. If you want real reliable go for a 2.5l 5 speed caravan but they aren't that easy to find. Not to easy to find the 3.0l 3 speed combos either most of them have the 4 speed too. The caravan never had the 2.7l though so I don't see much of a reason to avoid the newer non or atleast less sucky 4 speed versions other then price.
 
get a japanese car.

at least u kno it's a lot more reliable. the small percentage of complaints filed vs the #s of engines in the market.
