It was mostly a marketing gimic to boost sales. Now that they have some flashy models driving sales, they can cut back the warranty...before it gets too expensive to maintain all those cheaply made 300Cs and Magnums.

That article does not explicitely state that there will not be extra powertrain on top of the 3/36. If that's the case, that's going to murder sales. Seriously it is. 36k and then no powertrain left is just not cool and will obliterate the already-poor resale of these vehicles.

I like chrysler's lineup, but this is really lame.

Pontiac's is 3/36,000 too.
Does that really not include any extra powertrain at all? At 36k you're totally on your own?

The only thing that goes longer is rust coverage. I think that is 7/70,000 but it only covers replacement if the rust eats all the way through the panel.

Oh boy, one less reason to buy their garbage!

I can't believe you people think a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty isn't enough.

Hoping the above statement is sarcastic...

It's like that guy that said Chrysler employees with Chrysler cars get to park the closest to the building, but it was ironic because all those cars break down before they get there.

Here's an idea: if you're loosing too much money on waranty claims, STOP MAKING CARS THAT SUCK!

The kid at the Chrysler dealership told me about this happening a couple months ago.
He said (according to polls) people wanted more incentives such as cash back and zero% financing, so they're going that route.
I buy cars based on value. 4 more years of warranty beats hell out of $1,000 cash back.

It's not. How long do you realistically expect a company to warranty their product for?
I can't think of many other products that a company fully warranties for about a third of the average life of the product that is known of massive depreciation.

I agree that there should be 5y/60K mile powertrain warranty that goes along with the 3/36K bumper to bumper.

So I take it Toyota must suck for NOT having a 7/70? They've been sticking with the industry standard 3/36.

And you can be gauranteed that they'll sell an extended warranty to push the warranty back up to 7/70k

maybe the constant psuh for more hp/torque is really bad for drive trains? atleast cheap ones..
