Chrono Trigger inducted into gamespot's greatest games of all time

 for one of the games I always wish I had back in '95... and now that it's emulated, never have time to even start playing. 🙁 I swear, if I hit the lottery, it wouldn't be expensive toys that make me happy, it'd be the time to do stuff like play Chrono Trigger and the others I never finished 8hrs a whack Mon-Fri. 🙂

Currently playing SoM with my gf, we are at the final boss 🙂 Translated version of Seiken Densetsu 3 awaits when we're done...

me and a friend had to keep retrying that level over and over again, because the game kept freezing.

<3 CT

Never played SoM though...should I? :Q

Edit: Looking at those pictures of the remake make me cry that it got killed by Square 🙁

i have never been a fan of RPGs...i started playing that game, and i couldn't stop...it was amazing, the story sucked me right in...

to this date, it is the only RPG i have every played

one of the best games ever

CT's gameplay, storyline and stat engine is still unrivaled to today's RPGS.

Very well deserved. Actually no other game deserves it.

I rank CT higher than any other FF series simply because it is very polished and fine-tuned. You remember stats screen in FF series? There are so many useless and bloated numbers in there. CT has the most simple, minimalist and cleaned up character stats than FFs. The numbers actually made sense. You look at stats screen in FF7 or FF3, about 75% don't do anything or make any difference.

Plot is very well made. One of the most satisfying endings of all time.
Score is very well done- I remember getting chills when Magus' theme start to play. Same goes for Crono's. This is the only category FF7 may top.
Battle: CT is the first RPG to fight the battle without 'switching to battle screen', which all FFs do.

IIRC, most of the numbers are used in the game formulas.

Never had SoM freeze up on me ever. Must have been your cart/SNES. That game was way too easy though. Max your magic elemental levels out and you just owned the crap out of stuff.

From the SMB3 article on there.

The power-ups also added a great deal of variety to the game. No longer content to just shoot fireballs, Mario could now dress up in all sorts of ridiculous suits. The most useful was the leaf, which, of course, gave you raccoon ears, a tail, and the ability to fly. But you could also score a tanooki suit, which let you turn into a wicked, invincible statue. Then there was the frog suit, which was weak on land but gave you great swimming abilities. There was also the Hammer Brothers suit. And the list goes on and on.

Uhh..actually I think the list doesn't go on and on. I think that's it.

There was that boot that you could jump into in World 5, this other suite that made you look like a full on raccoon (moresoe than the leaf), the hammer used to bust rocks, standard mushrooms, stars, and mario acquiring the ability to swim. Maybe more, I'm not sure...

Boot isn't really a suit. The rest of the suits have already been mentioned by the quote.

That CT remake looks killer. It a shame they shut it down - they could have easiliy licensed it and made money from it.

Here's hoping that in 5-10 years, square finally realizes how much of a soft spot people have for the old SNES game. Maybe if we're lucky, theyll make PS3 (better yet, PS4 - I can wait) remakes of SoM, CT, and FF II, III, V (Jap) and VII. Full voice acting, the newest 3d tech etc..I would buy them all in a heartbeat - especially SoM and CT. And nintendo needs to remake a link to the past, and yoshi's island (best platformer EVER) ASAP as well.
